Q. What is Canisius Giving Day?
Canisius Giving Day is the college's annual 24-hour fundraising campaign, which aims to inspire the entire Canisius community to come together, show their pride, and support the next generation of Golden Griffins! This special virtual event shines a spotlight on giving at Canisius and creates energy and pride around community philanthropy.
Q. When is Canisius Giving Day?
Canisius Giving is on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from midnight to 11:59 PM.
Q. Is there a minimum or maximum donation I can make on Canisius Giving Day?
Gifts of all sizes are encouraged! Our goal focuses on participation because gifts of many come together to make an incredible difference for the next generation of Golden Griffins. The minimum Giving Day gift amount is $5.
Q. Can I participate if I did not graduate from Canisius?
Yes! Students, parents, faculty/staff and friends are encouraged to support the university on Giving Day. When prompted in the donation form, you select the role you most closely affiliate with.
Q. Where does my Giving Day gift go?
You can designate your gift to multiple areas on campus - from supporting Academics to supporting Student Success or Diversity & Inclusion - there are special initiatives for everyone's passion! Supporters are also encouraged to consider designating all or a portion of their gift to the Canisius Fund - which goes to the area of greatest need.
Q. Will my Giving Day gift - if made in advance of Wednesday, April 10 - help populate the leaderboards?
Yes! Gifts made in advance of Giving Day through this site will be populated on the leaderboard when it goes live at 12:00 a.m. on April 10, 2024. If you sent in a check or made your gift online prior to April 10th and specified that it was your Giving Day gift then it will be manually added and populate on the leaderboard.
Q. Can I send a gift by mail or phone?
Yes. However, due to the tight period of Giving Day, only gifts made online, by phone or in response to Giving Day mailings count toward overall totals and competitions. If you would like to make a gift by phone on Giving Day please call (716) 888-2712.
Q. Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes, your gift is entirely tax deductible. You will receive an email confirmation that may serve as your receipt for tax purposes.
Q. What if I already made a gift to Canisius this year?
Thank you for being part of the amazing Canisius University donor family! We appreciate your commitment and encourage you to make an additional gift on April 10th to help unlock the 2024 Giving Day Challenges and meet donor participation milestones.
Q. How will the donation be reported on my credit card?
Gifts made on Giving Day will appear on donors' credit cards as GIVEGAB Canisius University.
